Using MurPay for the first time at #MurphyUSA

IMG_0821

Yesterday was one of those days that two days to live through, at least it felt that way. I had a bunch of running around to do and just as we were getting to leave hubby discovered that our hot water heater died. I panicked a bit, then looked at the Home Depot website to get prices. So everything we had planned for the day had to wait for about 6 hours while that was taken care of.
Along the way, to get the hot water heater and then to do my shopping afterwards, I was taking notice of gas prices. I know, I know. We all take notice of gas prices, don't we? Well, one thing I did notice was that within 15 miles of where I live, East and West, gas prices are pretty much the same. Boring, yes. However....
I discovered something today too. It's called MurPay. Here's how it works.
You go to the website MurPay and register, which is free. You will have to enter banking information, which is where the money will come out of when you use this service. What I like about this is that you can also use it to but things at the #MurphyUSA store but you can also limit what is bought with it as well. For instance, if you give the code (you need this when using MurPay) to your teenage child who is driving and allow to get gas with it, there are things you can make sure they don't buy. You can, right on the website, check off things like liquor, tobacco, lotto tickets, etc and they won't be able to buy them with the code. I think that is genius!!
How it works is you register. You will be given their text number. When you go to Murphy USA you text that number with MurPay and the amount of gas/product you want. You are then very quickly sent a reply text along with a code that you use, similar to using a code for your credit/debit card. You enter the code and then your PIN that you set when you registered and it's paid. Easy.
The thing I like the most is the thought of giving the text number and PIN to my driving child and they can go get gas, without me having to give them my debit card, so they can't lose it. Genius!! I know I already said that, but it is truly genius!! This is truly one of my new favorite things. I even made hubby an account for his phone.
If you would like to check out my loooong day, take a look at my ThisMoment at the bottom of this post. It sure was a long day.

  2. This is very awesome; I definitely want to try using MurPay, and I love the twist you put on it, of using it for teens so they don't buy other things.:)
