Rambling on

I'm sitting here, on my new chair (a big chaise lounge hubby bought for me) with 2 kittens at my feet, watching the season finale of The Bachelor. Of course, I love, love, love Emily and will be shocked if he doesn't pick her.
I have my son's laptop on my lap while my daughter is sitting about 10 feet away on the couch with her laptop and my youngest son at my desk at my desktop computer, about 6 feet away playing Warcraft. So here, in the small room are three people on computers, watching tv. I have my smartphone next to me, checking tweets and getting texts. I can hear the dishwasher in the background as my husband is in room next to the kitchen (our bedroom) watching his own favorite programming in there.
The power went out today. For about an hour and a half we all had to talk to each other. The boys went outside and threw a baseball around. My daughter and I joked around and laughed at the kittens running all over the place. It was awful (sarcasm). We actually had to interact and carry on a conversation. If you can believe it my daughter and I have actually had text conversations in this living room, while sitting 10 feet away from each other, so no one else can `hear`us.
Why am I rambling? Not exactly sure but I have felt disconnected from some things lately and I'm wondering if it has to do with so many different electronics around. Maybe we need an electronic-free day around here, to recross our wires to each other.
Sigh
So, back to The Bachelor, keeping my fingers crossed for Emily.

Review: Naked Fitness by Andrea Metcalf #maptruvia #couchcritics

Recently I was given an opportunity to read the book Naked Fitness by Andrea Metcalf. If you follow my blog at all you know that I am one of millions of people who battle with their weight and self image on a daily basis. Am I good enough? Why should I try again? Do I really deserve it? Why bother? Well, funny enough, those questions are answered in this book. I am always skeptical when it comes to someone else touting that they really know how to help you and when you read 'this' it will fall into place. I honestly have to say that is the first book that has made me go 'hmmmm'.
After the first chapter, where you get an explanation to what Naked Fitness really is, she will ask something of you. Stand in a full length mirror, yes, naked, and find not only things that you need to change, but also things that you like, even if it's something small. What a concept, huh? Something we like? About ourselves? About the way we look? Imagine that.
There are tests, don't worry, you will not fail it, that everyone has to take while standing in a mirror (or with help from a friend/partner) just so you can have the best exercise program fitted to you. She does not believe in the statement 'no pain no gain' and suits a program to best fit you. She does ask that you agree to walk 2 hours a day. Don't worry, it doesn't have to be all at once. It can even be while you are talking on the phone, as long as your legs are moving.
There are meal plans to follow with loads of yummy recipes included to make life easier for everyone. There are step-by-step exercise routines with photos, worksheets so you can keep track of your food and exercise. One of my favorite things is the two pages of mantras/positive sayings. I will even give you my two favorites:
If you believe you can or cannot, you are correct.
If one dream should fall and break into a thousand pieces, never be afraid to pick one of those pieces up and begin again
(ok, my three favorites) When you get to the end of your rope, tie a knot and hang on.
She will ask that 'sign on' for 28 days, which is not a long time in your life to learn how to be nice to you again. I think I can do that, what about you? I am going to try it. I'm going to look at myself in the mirror and not just from the neck up. I'm going to look at me. That is the only way to change what I don't like and concentrate on what I do like.
I'm going to make more posts about this book and what I think of things as the time goes on so make sure you check back. If you want to order your copy you can preorder it on nakedfitness.com for more information. Heck, if you order a copy and would like to keep up with the book with me, leave a comment. Maybe we can help each other out. I'm also going to post this to my weight loss blog (East Texas Saver and Loser) if you want to follow there.

The last time I went to Walmart I bought some Truvia to help me on my start (again) for this weight loss journey. Take a look.

New Walmart coupon policy

walmart

If you're anything like me you wish you had a clear and decisive coupon policy when you go to Walmart. Well, it looks like there is one now! I just printed mine out for my shopping trip this weekend and I suggest you do the same because a lot of the cashier's don't always know what's new as far as coupon policy, although I wish that wasn't the case.

My single, most favorite thing about this?
Coupons may exceed the price of the item. Change may be given or applied toward the cost of the basket purchase.
There it is, in writing. No more arguing or second guessing.

My other favorite?
Checkout coupons (also called “Catalinas”) that are printed at our competitors’ registers, have “Manufacturer Coupon” with specific requirements printed on them, a valid remit address for the manufacturer, validexpiration date, and a scannable bar code.
This is awesome! I'm really very happy about this and it's making me smile, which is what you see all over Walmart stores right? Right.

If you're still reading and have not done it yet, go to Deal Seeking Mom's website to get the latest edition of the Walmart coupon policy. She is a member of Walmart Moms and has been working on this with them. Congrats to her and all others working on this new policy.
Ok, now GOT PRINT YOUR NEW COPY!!
