Kroger Cartbuster Savings Event 2-27 to 3-12

Kroger
Who doesn't love Kroger? I sure do. There is not one in my home town but I make a point to get to get to the closest one to me at least once a month. I will especially try to get there numerous times over the next 2 weeks. Kroger is having what they are calling "Cartbuster Savings Event". It starts Feb 27th and lasts 14 days, until March 12th. Every day they will be sharing special deals on their Facebook page so be sure to check it out each and every day for the awesome upcoming deals.

If you are already a regular Kroger customer you know all about the way you can save with them but if you are not, listen up. The first thing you need to do is sign up for a Kroger loyalty card, which is free, before you shop. If you can get this card before you go shopping, that would be even better because you can load coupons onto your loyalty card, which is a fantastic way to save even more. You can look right now to find hundreds of dollars in savings from a couple different spots you can load coupons from including Shortcuts.com, cellfire.com and Kroger.com. To add even more savings, check out your Sunday paper for coupons every week (the store I go to Sunday Coupon Preview to see what's coming this week), not to mention all the coupons you can find on Coupons.com to print out on your computer.

Most Kroger stores also double your manufacturer's coupons up to $.50 and triple them up to $.39. My store will do this on 3 like items only so make sure you ask before you start shopping. Any coupons you load on your loyalty are face value and not doubled or tripled though. Some Kroger stores will double up to a dollar and don't have limits on how many items you can use like coupons on. When I say like coupons what I mean is, for example, 3 coupons for Kraft salad dressing, $.50 each, will double to $1. If you use a 4th $.50 Kraft salad dressing coupon it will only be worth $.50 and not doubled to $1.

Take your time too, when you are walking around Kroger because a lot of times I will find unadvertised sales. So, if you are using coupons, bring them all with you. You just never know what you might find.

So, as I said, Kroger is not as close as I wish it was but I will making a point of going at least a couple of times over the next couple of weeks, after I upload and print off some coupons. Oh yeah, don't forget to check out the Kroger website for the weekly circular. That way you can take your coupons and apply to items that are already on sale. You can really score big savings then, which is what I do!

Some more info:
  • Each Deal of the Day is available through the end of the event (while supplies last)
  • Big savings store-wide including couponing on top of the Deal of the Day
  • Deal of the Day Contest for a chance to win the daily deal for free (while supplies last)

Kibbles 'n Bits $3 coupon

I have been fortunate to be involved with a place online called Social Fabric. And through being involved with this them I've been able to bring great things to you as well, like this coupon for $3 off of Kibbles 'n Bits. I bought this a few weeks ago at Walmart my dogs absolutely loved it. For the next 30 days (starting 2/23/11) you can click on the picture below or find the coupon widget on the right to print your own $3 coupon. This is great too because normally a 16+ lb bag of this is under $12 without coupon. So click away and tell your friends. Who doesn't want to save some money and tell everyone about it, right?

Click here to go to I Love My Dog .com where you can see all kinds of stories and shops for Kibbles 'n Bits and how much dogs love this food...including mine. If you sign up and share a small story (and I mean short as in can even be a few words) for your chance to win $25. A new winner is chosen every day. Here is mine, if you want to see what I'm talking about.

I was compensated for this post by Del Monte.

How do you teach your kids Dinner Table Etiquette?

One of the things I've found about raising children is how important a family meal around the table is. We do it every night, without fail. I understand how busy everyone's lives are right now but it is very important to take that 30 minutes or so to sit, as a family, and enjoy each others company. What tips do you have to accomplish a civilized family time meal? Here are some of mine.

First let me start with a couple of don'ts:
Don't bring a cell phone to the table, ever. I have a family of 6 and 5 cell phones. I have even had to reprimand my husband about answering a text message at the dinner table.
Don't fight at the dinner table, no matter what. There are no mean words to each other.
Don't swear at the dinner table. Remember, I have 2 teenage boys, teenage daughter and an 11 year old son. The older boys like to toss cuss words around but never at the dinner table.
Don't get up from the table without asking to be excused.

What to do:

Do: Always say please and thank you. As easy as that may sound it's something we tend to forget a lot of the time, especially with our family members.
Do always wash your hands before coming to the table.
Do pass something when asked.
Do chew with your mouth closed. I don't know why, but there is nothing I hate more than listening to someone 'sap' their food.
Do eat what is given to you. I have a rule. If I give you too much at the beginning of the meal you don't have to finish it, but if you take it yourself or you take seconds yourself you must eat it. I don't like food waste so I would rather someone take 5 helpings, small helpings, than 1 huge helping and not finish it all.
Do rinse your plate when you take it to the sink. Make the life of the dishwasher a bit easier.

In general, our table is a nice, quiet one during dinner. I wish I could say that the tv is always off but most of the time is on in the background. We don't watch tv during dinner and it's turned down low so we can still carry on a conversation. We eat when my husband gets home so we find out how his day was, if the kids had anything important happen at school.

When the food is set on the table I will often be the one to divvy up the meat to each one (gotta make sure there is enough to go around) but everyone else helps themselves to the veggies and potatoes. For some reason, and I'm not sure if it's something I started or not, but we tend to go in order of age. My husband goes first, then the oldest child, next oldest and so on, until it comes to my youngest and I get his and then mine. Why is it that mom's always get served last? Hmm.

So there you have it. Our dinner routine and how we make it work. What about you?
