Target...my new favorite store!!

Today was my very first trip to Target and let's just say, I have a new favorite store. I made sure to call the exact store I was going to ahead of time to make sure what the coupon policy was and how many coupons they would accept. He told me, "We feel you should do everything at once instead of breaking it up into multiple transactions." Cool! Coupon limit? "Just remember, you can use 1 Target coupon and 1 Manufacturer coupon per item. As long as they all match up, you can use as many as you like." More cool! So I made my list, gathered my coupons and was on my way.

I had an awesome time shopping the sales and checking with my well planned list (thanks to websites like Krazy Coupon Mom and It's Hip To Save). I matched coupons and found nearly every single thing I was looking for!

When I got up to the register I asked her if she'd rather I separate it into a few transaction and she said she'd do it all. Cool! As she rang everything up I watched the total go up and up and up all the way to $285.85...yikes! Then came the coupons. As she put them through I watched total go down and down and down until it reached (not including the 2 $5 Target gift cards I acquired because of Kellogg's purchases) drumroll please..........$37.68. A savings of 87%. I almost dropped! To say my husband was impressed would be an understatement. Isn't it crazy though, to look at that picture and imagine that people would actually pay nearly $300 for that? Dang!

Today may have been my very first trip to Target but it will not be the last. Yes, it is about 40 miles away and costs about $8 for gas in our car, but with the savings, it was sooo worth it!

  1. Wow! That's an incredible savings. I always here about things like this on TV. I've tried cutting coupons in the past, but I never saved that much. Did you only buy stuff that you would have bought anyway or did you buy stuff you ordinarily wouldn't have bought because you had a coupon for it?

This is my first time viewing your blog. It looks like you are doing a great job at saving.

  2. Thanks for the comment JarieLyn. This was my first trip to Target and I had a blast! I did buy things that I would normally buy, otherwise I find it a waste.

Keep in mind that at Target you can stack coupons by using 1 target coupon and 1 manufacturers coupon per item. There are a couple of websites you can find them, including the Target site itself. Hot Coupon World and A Full Cup are where I got mine.

I did a lot of research on other blogs and while it took me a bit to organize, it was well worth it! I will go back!

Thanks again for the nice comments.
